Terms & Conditions

Age for attending courses
My green woodwork courses are designed primarily for adults unless otherwise clearly stated. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you are confirming that you are at least 18 years old. In some circumstances it is possible to accommodate a young person accompanied by an adult but the course booking should be made by the adult. Please contact me directly if you would like to make a booking for someone under 18.

General course info
Your course fee covers tuition, tools and basic materials. On the chair and stool courses, an additional charge will typically be made to cover the price of seating materials, which can vary greatly. All tools and materials are provided by me but you may bring your own tools along if you wish to. All courses are beginner friendly, unless stated otherwise.

Fresh coffee, tea and biscuits are provided.

Bookings
Details of classes and workshops contained on the website may be subject to change without notice. Ben Willis Woodcraft reserves the right to cancel or move a class or workshop due to unforeseen circumstances including illness.

If for any reason I am forced to cancel a class I will notify you as soon as possible. In this event we will be able to transfer your booking to another available class, or alternatively we will refund your course fee in full.

Once a booking is made you should immediately receive a confirmation email.

Joining instructions are emailed a few days before the course begins and will cover directions, times, what to wear and anything you need to bring.

Please note: email will be sent to the email address of the person who has made the booking. If you are buying a class for a friend, we will leave it to you to pass on these details at your discretion. Alternatively let me know at info@benwillis-woodcraft.co.uk who the participant is.

Cancellation policy
Ben Willis Woodcraft reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course for any reason (for example, stormy weather, a pandemic, government direction or restrictions, insufficient numbers etc) and shall not be liable for any consequential loss that may be incurred. I will notify you of a course cancellation or postponement as soon as possible. Under these circumstances, a credit note will be offered against future course dates, subject to availability of places.

Up to 40 days prior to the course start date, students may swap their place to a later course (subject to availability) or cancel. In the case of cancellations, a £25 cancellation fee will be subtracted from the course refund. After this time, regrettably refunds will not be offered unless the cancelled place can be filled. Similarly, unless the booked place can be filled, requests to transfer to alternative courses made less then 40 days prior to a course beginning will only be accepted subject to availability and at the discretion of Ben Willis Woodcraft; the offer of alternative places will usually be made at short notice. If you are booked on a course and do not turn up on the day then no refund or transfer will be given. If you have paid a 25% deposit for a course, this will not be refunded if you cancel after the 40-day cut-off point outlined above.

You can transfer your place on a course to a friend at any point before the course starts. If you do wish to transfer your place to a friend, please notify Ben Willis Woodcraft as soon as possible.

Catch-ups
Although this cannot be guaranteed, I may be able to offer catch-ups for missed sessions, subject to my schedule. These will typically be charged at a rate of £25/hr. Please give me as much notice as you can if you are likely to miss a session so the necessary arrangements for catching up can be made. If you miss two or more sessions in the longer courses, I cannot guarantee completion of your project by the course completion date without a catch-up session.

Booking courses for another person
Course places make great gifts. If you’d like to make a booking for a friend or loved on, simply make the booking as you normally would and then drop me a line once you’ve booked with the third party’s name and email address, so I can direct correspondence to the right place.
